BILLY DANTER'S DODGEM CARS

How the dodgem cars work.

Billy Danter's Dodgem ride has 20 dodgem cars that hold 2 persons each and are of a Reverchon design. To operate the dodgem car, you first need to purchase a special token from the paybox. This is placed inside the slot on the right-hand side of the steering column and activates the coin-mech inside to turn on the power within the car.
The driver of the car presses a peddle which turns on the electricity to the motor, the motor drives the wheel which is directly connected to the steering column, and by steering the wheel, he or she can turn in any direction. Below is a cut-away picture of a dodgem car which shows you how the components that make the car work are laid out inside.

Below the car is the electical brush which contacts the floor of the dodgem track. It provides the negative side of the power. The positive side of the power is got from the pole at the back of the car. This contacts the live wire mesh seen near the roof of a dodgem track.

Below is the main drive wheel (motor) for the dodgem car. It is located at the front of the car and directly attached to the streeing column. This enables you to drive, steer and reverse without the need for a gear.
